TRIPURA HC ISSUES CLOSURE NOTICE TO TWO HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS FOR VIOLATION OF SAFETY NORMS!

The High Court of Tripura yesterday asked West Tripura district administration to close down two high-rise commercial buildings and a multiplex here within 24 hours for non-compliance of safety norms.

A Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Arindam Lodh in an interim order stated that both the high-rise buildings - shopping mall and hotel were not at all safe for public as they were not having fire safety equipment to deal with emergency situation.

Hearing a suo-moto PIL, the bench also directed the administration and DG Fire Services to carry out a fire safety audit in all the high-rise buildings of Agartala and submit its report to the Court and also questioned the authorities as to why periodic and random inspections were not carried out in such high rise buildings.
